New Ghostface Album “36 Seasons” Dropping December 9th! Stream Snippets Now!

It’s Ghostface season again!!!

On December 9th (a week after the next Wu album “A Better Tomorrow” will be released), Ghostface is dropping his 11th (!!) album, “36 Seasons,” on Tommy Boy, taking it back to the label where the Wu empire started. As I discussed in my book on Wu, Tommy Boy was where Rza released his debut single in 1991, “Ooo, I Love You Rakeem“, which featured a B-side remix of “Sexcapades” that was parenthetically subtitled “Wu-Tang Mix.” This was the first time the hip-hop masses would see the legendary Wu-Tang name on a piece of vinyl. Two years later, when their debut album “Enter The Wu-Tang” dropped, it would spark a 20 year reign as one of the undisputed premiere groups in hip-hop culture.

From the sound of the snippet above, that two decade reign is nowhere close to ending! Merry Wu-mas!

Wu-Tang really is forever. And omnipresent. If you would have told Rza 20 years ago that someone running for statewide office in Texas would be wearing a Wu-Tang T-shirt on Election Day to promote her candidacy, his mind would be blown. LOL.

Peele of Comedy Duo Key & Peele Calls “Enter The Wu-Tang” His Favorite Rap Album

Peele of Comedy Central sketch comedy duo Key & Peele declared Enter The Wu-Tang (ETWT) to be his favorite rap album at the end of a brief interview with XXL. The man has good taste in hip-hop, although they have jokes on the culture in the video above.

DJ Green Lantern Releases EDM Remix of Wu-Tang’s C.R.E.A.M.

Former Eminem DJ/mixtape vet DJ Green Lantern recently released an EDM remix of the classic Wu-Tang banger “C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me)” The remix is largely instrumental, with a few choice vocal samples from the original (meaning the timeless lyrics are largely gone), but it’s still an interesting listen.

Supreme Clientele 2 Is Finished, Sample Clearance Process Underway

Ghostface Killah revealed in an interview that went online yesterday that “Supreme Clientele 2: Blue & Cream” is finished and now he’s going through the process of getting all the samples cleared. After that, he’ll begin shopping the record to prospective labels. Would be cool if it ended up on Nas’ Mass Appeal imprint. A different interview with Ghost where he also discusses “Supreme Clientele 2” can be seen in the video above.

New Wu Album “A Better Tomorrow” Dropping December 2?

Looks like the Wu reunion album finally has a release date and a label home (Warner Bros). Between their recent Prince release “Art Official Age” and this forthcoming Wu release, looks like Warner is back in the business of promoting legendary artists! Rza also talked about his innovative plan to have a limited release of “A Better Tomorrow” on portable speakers (with instrumentals and a bonus track not available on other formats). Rolling Stone also reports that Cappadonna is now an official member of the Clan. Quite a day for Wu-Tang news! Check out footage of the crew (sans Cappa) on the Jon Stewart Show in the video above.
