Raekwon Reveals His Top Five Rappers Ever & His Current #1 Rapper

In the interview above, Raekwon reveals his top five rappers of all time. Anyone familiar with the Wu’s love for late 80s hip-hop will be able to guess most of his picks, but you might not be able to guess who Raekwon thinks is the number one rapper out now. The interviewer explicitly asked Rae not to include Wu members as an answer to either question, so don’t get mad, Wu fans. In any case, enjoy the video!

Spoiler/correction on the Top Five list in the video above: The video (in its captions) describes Slick Rick as a Bronx rapper, even though he is more popularly associated with Brooklyn and lists Rakim and Chuck D as Queens rappers, even though both legendary emcees are more commonly associated with Long Island.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Trailer Features Wu-Tang Reference

Just when you thought the Clan couldn’t get any more ubiquitous, a Wu-Tang reference pops up in the latest trailer for the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot. Radical!

The original TMNT film was released in 1990, three years before Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Everything old is new again.

Krayzie Bone Discusses The Possibility Of A Wu/Bone Collaborative Project

Wu-Tang and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were the two best selling groups in the 90s, so I was amazed to read a recent interview where Krayzie Bone revealed preliminary talks about a Wu/Bone collaboration (mentioning his close ties to Rza and Meth, with whom he apparently has discussed this idea). Bone’s collaboration with The Notorious BIG (“Notorious Thugs”) was an instant classic, so I can only imagine how good a Wu/Bone collab would be.

Shyheim Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter From New Years Day Hit-and-Run

It’s a sad day for the extended Wu-Tang family. Longtime Wu affiliate Shyheim (formerly known as Shyheim the Rugged Child) was the driver in a fatal hit-and-run on New Years Day 2014, when Shyheim ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle (killing a man inside). Reports have come in that Shyheim recently pled guilty to second degree manslaughter in relation to that incident, in addition to a separate gun possession charge (for a gun found in his apartment, although it’s unclear why police were in his apartment in the first place). His sentencing date has not been set. This is pretty much a tragedy for everyone involved; please drive safely out there.

Rza Teams Up With Indie Band Faulkner For NYC Anthem

As I mention in the addendum of my book, “Enter The Wu-Tang: How Nine Men Changed Hip-Hop Forever“, Rza has kept busy on a number of projects recently, one of which is a collaboration with indie rock band, Faulkner. In the book, I described this collaboration as a return to Rza’s indie roots, from back when the Wu put out “Protect Ya Neck” themselves. The black-and-white video accompanying the song (posted above) has great production value and I hope lots of people check it out. I always root for well-made indie projects to do well.

Raekwon and AZ rock “Life’s A B—h” at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival

Raekwon had plenty of Brooklyn hip-hop vets on deck for his performance at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. In the video above, he brings out Brooklyn’s own AZ to rock his classic verse off of “Life’s A B—h“. If you don’t own “Illmatic” already, stop reading this, click this link and cop that (Just $4.99!).

@Raekwon and Lil Fame Rock “Ante Up” at @BKHipHopFest

Raekwon caused pandemonium by bringing out M.O.P. at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival to rock robbery anthem “Ante Up“. Watch this in your cubicle and if your supervisor complains, yap that fool. LMAO.
